The 71st Emperor
Emperor Go-Sanjō: The second son of Emperor Go-Suzaku. His personal name was Takahito. He was the half-brother of Emperor Go-Reizei. His mother was called Yōmeimon-in Teishi, daughter of Emperor Sanjō. Through both his paternal and maternal lineages, he inherited the throne by combining the two imperial lines of Reizei and En'yū. On the 16th day of the 1st month of Kantoku 2 (1045), Emperor Go-Suzaku, due to illness, abdicated the throne to Emperor Go-Reizei.
