In the fifth month of the second year (Tenji 2, 1125), Gyōson of Mii-dera was appointed to the position of Dai-sōjō (Grand Prelate) and was permitted to use an ox-drawn carriage. This monk became the first to serve as inspector (kengyō) of the three sacred mountains of Kumano and became involved in mountain ascetic and Shugendō practices. In the tenth month, there were imperial visits to Iwashimizu and Kamo shrines. After this, there were also imperial visits to Hirano, Ōharano, Matsuo, Kitano, Inari, Gion, and other shrines.
In the second month of Daiji 2 (1127), former Chancellor Kuga no Masazane died at the age of sixty-nine. In the tenth month, Retired Emperor Shirakawa and Retired Emperor Toba traveled together to Mount Kōya. In this year, Shinra Saburō Minamoto no Yoshimitsu died at the age of seventy-two. He inherited the arts of archery and horsemanship from his elder brother Yoshiie and became the progenitor of a major Minamoto lineage.
