天承元年七月、白河院の一周忌に法勝寺にて法華八講を行った。十二月、右大臣家忠が左大臣となる。内大臣有人が右大臣となる。大納言藤原宗忠が内大臣となる。同月、前関白忠実が鳥羽上皇に謁見した。白河法皇と不和であったためか、関白を辞してより十二年の間蟄居して、今回初めて出仕した。随身兵仗を賜る。既に老齢とはいえども、この後政務に関与し、忠通と父子の間で不和となった。その次男頼長は、この年十二歳であるのを、甚だ愛している。

In the first year of Tenshō (1131), in the seventh month, on the first anniversary of Shirakawa-in's death, the Hokke Hakkō (Eight Lectures on the Lotus Sutra) was held at Hōshōji Temple. In the twelfth month, Right Minister Ietada became Left Minister. Inner Minister Arito became Right Minister. Major Counselor Fujiwara no Munetada became Inner Minister. In the same month, former Kampaku Tadazane had an audience with Retired Emperor Toba. Perhaps because he had been at odds with Retired Emperor Shirakawa, after resigning from the position of kampaku, he had remained in seclusion for twelve years, and now for the first time he emerged. He was granted armed retainers and weapons. Although he was already advanced in age, thereafter he participated in government affairs, and discord arose between him and his son Tadamichi.
