久寿元年五月、久我右大臣源雅定が剃髪した。年六十一。その後年を経て薨去した。この人の別業を中院と称する。八月、右大将藤原実能が左大将に転じ、頼長の嫡男で中納言藤原兼長が右大将を兼任した。時に十七歳であった。

In the third year, on the second day of the first month, there was an imperial visit for chōkin (New Year court ceremony). In the same month, Taira no Tadamori, Minister of Justice, died at the age of fifty-eight. His eldest son Kiyomori succeeded him. In the fourth month, a strange bird called nue flew crying over the Imperial Palace. Minamoto no Yorimasa, Head of the Military Police Bureau, received an imperial command and shot it down. Yorinaga, receiving the imperial order, bestowed an imperial sword upon Yorimasa. It is said he also granted him the court lady Ayame no Mae. Yorimasa was a descendant of Yorimitsu, Governor of Settsu, and was a warrior skilled in both archery and horsemanship as well as waka poetry.
In the first year of Kyūju, in the fifth month, Minamoto no Masasada, Minister of the Right of Kuga, took the tonsure at age sixty-one. He died years later. His villa was called Nakain.
