現代語訳
垂仁天皇の娘である。天皇が即位し、御父である日本武尊を慕われて、諸国に詔を下して白鳥を献上させた。日本武尊が白鳥と化したためである。この時、大伴武持を大連とし、大臣武内宿禰と並べて政治を行わせた。後世の左右大臣の意義である。即位の翌年、越前国の角鹿に行幸し、笥飯宮に住まわれた。しばらくして、皇后並びに百官を角鹿に留めて、紀伊国に行幸された。この時、熊襲が謀反を起こしたという知らせが聞こえたので、天皇は直ちに長門国へ行幸された。皇后も角鹿から長門国へ参会し、豊浦宮に住まわれた。それから筑紫の橿日宮へ遷って熊襲を討つことを謀られた。その折、皇后に不思議な神託があって、熊襲のことはさしおき、新羅国を討つべしと告げられたけれども、天皇は同意せず、自ら兵を率いて
