現代語訳
熊襲を討伐された。軍中において、御身体の具合が悪くなり、程なく崩御された。或いは賊の矢に当たられたとも言われている。在位九年、御年五十二歳。越前国の気比大明神は、この天皇を崇めて祀っているという。
第十五代
神功皇后 仲哀天皇の后である。開化天皇の曾孫で、気長宿禰の娘である。皇后が筑紫において懐妊中に、仲哀天皇が崩御されたので、武内大臣と相談し、仲哀天皇の崩御を隠して、官軍を派遣し、熊襲を討ち平定させた。その他の謀反人もすべて鎮圧された。皇后は神託に従って、新羅を討とうとお思いになり、肥前国松浦の河で釣り針を投げて、「私の思うことが叶うなら、この餌を食むべし」と言って、釣り竿を上げられた。

He subjugated the Kumaso. While in the military camp, his health deteriorated and he soon passed away. Some say he was struck by an enemy arrow. He reigned for nine years and lived to the age of fifty-two. The great deity Kehi of Echizen Province is said to venerate and enshrine this emperor.
Fifteenth Generation
Empress Jingū She was the consort of Emperor Chūai. She was the great-granddaughter of Emperor Kaika and the daughter of Ikinaga Sukune. While the empress was pregnant in Tsukushi, Emperor Chūai passed away, so she consulted with Minister Takeuchi and concealed the emperor's death, dispatching government troops to subjugate and pacify the Kumaso. All other rebels were also suppressed. Following divine oracles, the empress resolved to attack Silla. At the Matsura River in Hizen Province, she cast a fishing hook and said, "If my wishes are to be fulfilled, let this bait be taken," and lifted her fishing rod.
