Kamada Masakiyo, Tadamune's son-in-law, was Yoshitomo's chief retainer and was killed together with Yoshitomo. On the tenth day of the same month, there was a change of era name to Eiryaku. Yoshitomo's eldest son Yoshihira was a peerless warrior, but when he secretly entered the capital to target Kiyomori, he could not succeed and was ultimately captured alive and executed.
