十一日、清盛は病気により剃髪し、名を浄海と改めた。時に歳五十一。入道相国と号した。ある時は六波羅に住み、ある時は西八条に住み、ある時は摂津国の福原の別荘にいた。その妻平時子を八条二位殿と号した。嫡男重盛を小松殿と号した。弟頼盛を池殿と号した。その他の子弟は皆官位に栄達した。
嘉応元年三月、後白河上皇が高野山へ御幸された。六月、上皇が出家され、法皇と号された。十二月、延暦寺の衆徒の訴えにより、中納言藤原成親が備後国へ配流された。成親は法皇の近臣であるため、程なく召し返された。

On the eleventh day, Kiyomori shaved his head due to illness and changed his name to Jōkai. He was then fifty-one years old. He was called Nyūdō Shōkoku (Lay Monk Chancellor). Sometimes he resided at Rokuhara, sometimes at Nishi-Hachijō, and sometimes at his villa in Fukuhara in Settsu Province. His wife Taira no Tokiko was called Hachijō-no-Nii-dono. His eldest son Shigemori was called Komatsu-dono. His younger brother Yorimori was called Ike-dono. All his other sons and brothers achieved high rank and office.
In the first year of Kaō (1169), in the third month, Retired Emperor Go-Shirakawa made a pilgrimage to Mount Kōya. In the sixth month, the retired emperor took Buddhist vows and was called Cloistered Emperor. In the twelfth month, due to a petition from the monks of Mount Hiei, Middle Counselor Fujiwara no Narichika was exiled to Bingo Province. Since Narichika was a close retainer of the cloistered emperor, he was recalled before long.
This year there were imperial visits to Iwashimizu and Kamo shrines.
