後鳥羽￣ノ院 高倉￣ノ院第四ノ子。諱は尊成。母ハ藤原￣ノ殖（ナリ）子。
現代語訳
兼実らと百官は比叡山に登って、法皇に謁見を申し上げた。二十八日、法皇は都へ還幸された。義仲は五万騎で供奉した。行家は頼朝と不和であったため、北国の合戦以来義仲に属し、同じく上洛していた。平家は福原にも留まることができず、ついに筑紫へ落ち延びた。
八月、法皇は平家の官位を削り取り、その所領を源氏に分け与えられた。義仲には伊予国を与えて左馬頭に任じ、朝日将軍と称した。行家には備前国を与えて備前守と号した。二人の威勢は次第に振るうようになった。
同月二十日、高倉院の子（尊成、後の後鳥羽天皇）が即位した。これより京と田舎に二人の帝がおられることとなった。このため安徳天皇を先帝と申すようになった。

Kanezane and the court officials climbed Mount Hiei and had an audience with the Cloistered Emperor. On the twenty-eighth day, the Cloistered Emperor returned to the capital. Yoshinaka accompanied him with fifty thousand cavalry. Yukiie, being at odds with Yoritomo, had joined Yoshinaka since the northern campaigns and had likewise come to the capital. The Taira could not remain even at Fukuhara and finally fled to Tsukushi (Kyushu).
In the eighth month, the Cloistered Emperor stripped the Taira of their court ranks and distributed their lands to the Minamoto. To Yoshinaka he granted Iyo Province, appointed him to the position of Sama-no-kami (Head of the Left Division of the Bureau of Horses), and gave him the title of Asahi Shogun. To Yukiie he granted Bizen Province and gave him the title of Bizen-no-kami (Governor of Bizen). The power of these two men gradually increased.
On the twentieth day of the same month, a son of Emperor Takakura (Prince Takahira, later Emperor Go-Toba) ascended the throne. From this time forward, there were two emperors, one in the capital and one in the countryside. For this reason, Emperor Antoku came to be called the "Former Emperor."
