In the same month, [the court] had the monk Chōgen seek timber for the reconstruction of the Great Buddha of Tōdaiji Temple. The Cloistered Emperor and Yoritomo, sharing the same intention, undertook its restoration. In the fifth month, Yoritomo constructed the Kan'in Imperial Palace. He sent Ōe no Hiromoto to the capital to serve as supervisor. In the eighth month, bandits arose in the capital. From Kamakura, Chiba Tsunetane and Shimokōbe Yukihira came to the capital and pacified them. In the tenth month, Chinzei-fu General and Governor of Mutsu Fujiwara no Hidehira died. In his final words to his son Yasuhira and others, he instructed them to have Yoshitsune conduct provincial affairs. In the eleventh month, [the Emperor made] imperial visits to Iwashimizu and Kamo [shrines].
In the first month of the fourth year, the roof-raising ceremony for Kōfukuji Temple [was held]. Regent Kanezane and others attended. In the second month, Inner Minister Yoshimichi died at age twenty. In the third month, an imperial envoy was sent to Mutsu, commanding Yasuhira to attack Yoshitsune. In the seventh month, Yoritomo's eldest son Yoriie donned armor for the first time.
In the first month of the fifth year, Yoritomo was promoted to Junior Second Rank. In the second month, Ōinomikado [became] Left Minister.
