藤原経宗薨去す。年七十一。三月、頼朝奏聞して、泰衡を討とうと申す。勅許なし。四月、大納言藤原朝方、三位藤原頼経、大蔵卿高階泰経等、義経に親しかった廷臣、あるいは流罪、あるいは解官せらる。吉田中納言藤原経房という人、頼朝に志を通じ、親しいゆえ、諸事この人を以て奏聞す。閏四月、泰衡、父の遺言に背き、勅命に従い、頼朝の威を恐れて、義経が居た衣川の館を攻めれば、義経しばらく戦って、妻子を殺して、その身も自害す。年三十一。泰衡その首を鎌倉へ送る。泰衡の弟忠衡は、義経と同志なりけるゆえ、泰衡これを殺す。然れども頼朝の怒り解けずして、泰衡を討たんため、軍勢を呼び集む。朝廷より制し止めらるといえども、頼朝従い奉らず。七月、徳大寺右大臣実定（薨去す）。

Fujiwara no Tsunemune died at the age of seventy-one. In the third month, Yoritomo petitioned the court, requesting to attack Yasuhira. Imperial permission was not granted. In the fourth month, Major Counselor Fujiwara no Tomosuke, Third Rank Fujiwara no Yoritsune, Treasury Minister Takashina no Yasetsune, and other court officials who had been close to Yoshitsune were either exiled or dismissed from office. A person called Yoshida Middle Counselor Fujiwara no Tsunefusa, who shared aspirations with Yoritomo and was on intimate terms with him, was used for all petitions to the court. In the intercalary fourth month, Yasuhira, going against his father's dying words, followed the imperial command and fearing Yoritomo's power, attacked the Koromo River mansion where Yoshitsune resided. Yoshitsune fought for a while, killed his wife and children, and then took his own life. He was thirty-one years old. Yasuhira sent his head to Kamakura. Since Yasuhira's younger brother Tadahira had been allied with Yoshitsune, Yasuhira killed him. However, Yoritomo's anger did not subside, and he gathered military forces to attack Yasuhira. Although the court ordered him to cease and desist, Yoritomo did not comply. In the seventh month, Tokudaiji Right Minister Sanesada (died).
