相模国の武士稲毛三郎重成が、その亡妻の追善供養のために相模川に橋を架けた。重成の亡妻は北条時政の娘で、頼朝の室家である政子と姉妹であったため、橋の供養の時に頼朝もその場へ赴いた。帰路に落馬して、ついに病気にかかった。俗説によると、この時八幡太郎で義経・行家の怨霊が現れ、稲村ヶ崎で安徳天皇の御霊が現れたという。疑わしいことである。
