去年実朝御台所ノ迎ニ重保上洛ノ時。京都￣ノ守護源￣ノ
朝雅ト口論シ。朝雅ヲ辱（ハヅカ）シム。重忠ハ時政前腹ノ婿ナ

Shigetada was the son-in-law of Tokimasa's former wife. Tomoyasu was the beloved son-in-law of Tokimasa's current wife. Therefore, the Lady Maki repeatedly slandered Shigetada and his son to Tokimasa, claiming they harbored treasonous intentions. Among Shigetada's cousins was a man named Inage Shigenari. He too was a son-in-law of Tokimasa's former wife. Since Shigetada and Shigenari were on bad terms, Shigenari also joined forces with the Lady Maki to plot the destruction of Shigetada and his son. Although Yoshitoki and his brother Tokifusa offered various admonishments, whether because Tokimasa had grown senile or because he was bewitched by his second wife's words, he finally killed Shigeyasu. Shigetada was in Musashi at this time, but was summoned to Kamakura. With Yoshitoki and others leading a large army, they lay in wait for Shigetada at Futamata River, engaged in battle, and Shigetada was killed.
