In the first month of Ryakunin 1 (1238), Yoritsune traveled to the capital. Yasutoki led warriors from various provinces in attendance. Fujiwara no Yukimitsu remained as deputy in Kamakura. In the second month, Yoritsune arrived in Kyoto and took residence at the Rokuhara mansion. Relatives including Michiie, Kinetsune, and Saneuji gathered, visiting each other's mansions. Yoritsune attended court, concurrently held the position of Right Gate Guards Commander, and was appointed as Director of the Imperial Police. In the third month, Yoritsune was appointed Major Counselor. In the same month, there was an imperial visit to Kasuga. In the fourth month, Yoritsune resigned from Major Counselor. In the same month, Michiie was granted quasi-imperial prince status and immediately took Buddhist vows. In the sixth month, Yoritsune made a pilgrimage to Kasuga. In the seventh month, former Left Minister Fujiwara no Yoshihira was appointed Chancellor. Right Minister Yoshizane was transferred to the left, and Sanjo Major Counselor Fujiwara no Sanechika was appointed Right Minister. Oinomikado Major Counselor Fujiwara no Ietsugu was appointed Inner Minister. Middle Counselor Fujiwara no Tameie concurrently held the position of Chamberlain. Tameie was the son of Teika. In the same month, Yoritsune made a pilgrimage to Iwashimizu. In the eighth month, Yoritsune made pilgrimages to Kamo, Gion, Kitano, and Yoshida.
