大臣実経が摂政となった。これは一条殿の始まりである。三月、実氏が太政大臣に任じられた。同月、前参議菅原為長が卒去した。年齢八十九歳。同月、北条経時が病気になり、執権をその弟左近将監時頼に譲った。四月、経時が出家した。閏四月朔日、経時が卒去した。年齢三十三歳。仁治三年より執権となり、今年まで僅か五年であった。

Minister Sanetsune became regent. This was the beginning of the Ichijō house. In the third month, Saneuji was appointed to the position of Chancellor. In the same month, former Counselor Sugawara no Tamanaga died at the age of eighty-nine. In the same month, Hōjō Tsunetoki fell ill and transferred the position of shikken to his younger brother, Assistant Captain of the Left Tokiyori. In the fourth month, Tsunetoki took the tonsure. On the first day of the intercalary fourth month, Tsunetoki died at the age of thirty-three. He had been shikken since the third year of Ninji, for only five years until this year.
In the fifth month, a disturbance occurred in Kamakura. There was a man called Hōjō Echigo no Kami Mitsutoki, grandson of Yoshitoki and son of Asatoki. Because he had been in close service to Yoritsune, he plotted to strike down Tokiyori and become shikken himself. This was immediately exposed, Mitsutoki's domains were confiscated, and he was exiled to Izu. All his followers were sentenced to exile. Mitsutoki's younger brother Tokiaki and others, having no treasonous intent, inherited the Nagoe house. From this point, Tokiyori finally seized control of the realm and assisted Shogun Yoritsugu. In the sixth month, Yoritsune left his residence and moved to the Sasuke mansion of Hōjō Tokimori.
