履中天皇 仁徳天皇の御子である。母を磐之媛という。武内宿禰の孫で、葛城襲津彦の娘である。仁徳天皇が崩御されて、履中天皇が即位されない間に、田矢代宿禰の娘である黒媛を娶ろうとして、御弟の住吉仲皇子を遣わして、縁談を通じさせた。その時、仲皇子は自分が天皇であると名乗って黒媛を犯した。

Eighteenth Emperor
Emperor Richū was the son of Emperor Nintoku. His mother was called Iwayuki-hime (or Iwano-hime). She was the granddaughter of Takeuchi no Sukune and daughter of Kazuraki no Sotsuhiko. After Emperor Nintoku's death and before Emperor Richū's enthronement, when he wished to marry Kuro-hime, the daughter of Ta no Yashiro no Sukune, he sent his younger brother Prince Sumiyoshi no Naka to arrange the marriage proposal. At that time, Prince Naka falsely claimed to be the emperor and violated Kuro-hime.
When returning, he forgot his bell and left it at the princess's place. The following night, when the emperor made an imperial visit to the princess's quarters and saw the bell, he asked "Whose bell is this?"
