（承明門院は土御門院の）母であったから、主上の曾祖母にあたる。
二年三月、将軍宗尊親王が来年上洛すべきとの評定があり、諸国の武士に触れを回した。しかしながら、その事は沙汰止みとなった。
正元元年春、疫病・飢饉により、人民が多く死んだ。十四、五歳ばかりの小尼がいて、京中の死人を取り食らった。月を経てその行方は知れなくなった。三月、主上の御母・大宮院が、西園寺の花の前にて一切経供養を行った。行幸・御幸があり、供養の翌日に御遊があった。主上は琵琶を弾じられた。五月、近衛前関白兼経が薨去した。享年五十歳。岡屋関白と号した。十一月、主上は位を御弟の恒仁に譲った。今年わずか十七歳であったから、御心より起こったことではなく、上皇のはからいによるものであろう。年号は宝治二年・建長七年・康元一年・正嘉二年・正元一年。在位合わせて十三年。

(As Shōmeimon'in was the mother of Tsuchimikado'in,) she was the great-grandmother of the reigning emperor.
In the third month of the second year (of Shōka), there was a council deliberating that Shogun Prince Munetaka should make the journey to the capital the following year, and notice was sent out to warriors across the provinces. However, the matter came to nothing.
In the spring of the first year of Shōgen, pestilence and famine caused the deaths of many people. There was a young nun of about fourteen or fifteen years of age who devoured the corpses of the dead in the capital. After some months passed, her whereabouts became unknown. In the third month, Ōmiya'in, the mother of the reigning emperor, held a memorial service for the complete Buddhist canon (issaikyō kuyō) before the blossoming flowers of Saionji. An imperial visit and a retired-emperor's visit were made, and the day after the service there was a musical gathering. The emperor played the biwa. In the fifth month, the Former Regent Kanetsune of the Konoe family passed away at the age of fifty. He was known as the Regent of Okaya. In the eleventh month, the emperor abdicated in favor of his younger brother Tsunehito. As he was only seventeen that year, this was unlikely to have arisen from his own wishes, and was presumably arranged by the Retired Emperor. The reign spanned the era names Hōji 2, Kenchō 7, Kōgen 1, Shōka 2, and Shōgen 1, for a total of thirteen years on the throne.
