八十九代
亀山院、諱は恒仁。後嵯峨天皇の第六皇子。後深草天皇と同腹の弟である。正嘉二年八月に東宮(皇太子)に立てられ、正元元年十一月に即位した。時に十一歳。鷹司太政大臣兼平が関白であった。後嵯峨上皇が院中にて政務を執られた。これを一院と申し上げた。後深草院を新院と申して、富小路の御所にお住まいであった。
文応元年二月、故近衛兼経公の息女が鎌倉へ下向し、最明寺時頼の養子となって、宗尊親王に嫁いだ。
七月、僧・日蓮が鎌倉に到り、時頼と対面した。日蓮はその門徒が多く、一宗を開いた。
十一月、西園寺前相国実氏が落飾し、常盤井入道と号した。

The Eighty-Ninth Sovereign
Kameyama'in; his personal name was Tsunehito. He was the sixth son of Emperor Gosaga, and the younger brother of Emperor Gofukakusa by the same mother. In the eighth month of the second year of Shōka, he was installed as Crown Prince, and in the eleventh month of the first year of Shōgen he ascended to the throne, at the age of eleven. Takatsukasa Grand Minister of State Kanehira served as Regent (Kampaku). The Retired Emperor Gosaga administered governance from within the Retired Emperor's Court, and was referred to as "Ichiin" (the [principal] Retired Emperor). The Retired Emperor Gofukakusa was referred to as "Shin'in" (the New Retired Emperor) and resided at the Tominokōji Palace.
In the second month of the first year of Bun'ō, the daughter of the late Konoe Kanetsune descended to Kamakura, became the adopted daughter of Saimyōji Tokiyori, and was given in marriage to Prince Munetaka.
In the seventh month, the monk Nichiren arrived in Kamakura and had an audience with Tokiyori. Nichiren gathered many followers and founded a new Buddhist sect.
In the eleventh month, the Former Chancellor Saionji Saneuji took the tonsure and took the name Tokiwai Nyūdō.
