現代語訳
（時輔は）京都に置かれ、北条時茂とともに両六波羅（探題）を務めた。次男・左馬頭時宗は十三歳で家督を継いで執権となり、相模守に任じられた。政村・長時がこれを補佐した。時宗の舅・秋田城介泰盛もまた権勢があった。
文永元年（1264）三月、延暦寺が炎上した。これは、天王寺の別当職を三井寺に付与されることを憤った山僧たちが、自ら（延暦寺を）焼いたのだという。
五月、山門（延暦寺）から三井寺へ押し寄せて、ことごとく焼き払った。また同年、南都（興福寺・奈良）の大衆も朝廷を恨むことがあって、神木を（京都へ）入洛させ、強訴に及んだ。
八月、北条長時が死去した。享年三十五歳。
（文永）二年（1265）四月、二条良実が関白を辞した。一条左大臣実経が関白となった。
十月、実経が左大臣を辞した。近衛右府基平が左（大臣）に転じ、鷹司内府基忠が右大臣に任じられ、大炊御門の（次ページへ続く）。

(Tokisuke) was stationed in Kyoto and, together with Hōjō Tokishige, served as the Two Rokuhara (Tandai). The second son, Samanotō Tokimune, succeeded as head of the family at the age of thirteen and became Regent (Shikken), being appointed Governor of Sagami. Masamura and Nagatoki assisted him in this role. Tokimune's father-in-law, Akita-no-shiro-no-suke Yasumori, also wielded considerable influence.
In the third month of the first year of Bun'ei (1264), Enryakuji Temple was engulfed in flames. This was said to have been set ablaze by the mountain monks themselves, in fury at the appointment of the Tennōji bettō (superintendent) being assigned to Miidera Temple.
In the fifth month, (the forces of) Sanmon (Enryakuji) descended upon Miidera and burned it to the ground entirely. Also in that same year, the monks of Nanto (Kōfukuji in Nara) harbored grievances against the imperial court, causing the sacred sakaki tree to be brought into the capital (nyūraku) and proceeding to lodge a forceful protest (gōso).
In the eighth month, Hōjō Nagatoki died. He was thirty-five years of age.
In the fourth month of the second year (of Bun'ei, 1265), Nijō Yoshizane resigned as Regent (Kampaku). Ichijō, Minister of the Left Sanetsune, became Regent.
In the tenth month, Sanetsune resigned as Minister of the Left. Konoe, Minister of the Right Motohira, was transferred to (the position of Minister of the) Left, and Takatsukasa, Inner Minister Motutada, was appointed Minister of the Right. And Ōinomikado's... (continues on next page)
