（譲位・即位・立坊も皆、関東からの取り計らいによるものとなった。）
建治元年（1275年）二月、蒙古の使者・杜世忠らが日本へ渡ってきた。高麗人も同じく来た。大宰府でこれを取り調べて、杜世忠ら三人を鎌倉へ遣わした。洛中（京都）へは入れなかった。書簡が届いたといえども、返書には及ばなかった。
六月、九条・前摂政の忠家が薨去した。享年四十七歳。一音院と号した。
八月、花山院・前右大臣の通雅が太政大臣に任じられた。
十月、一条の家経が摂政ならびに左大臣を辞した。鷹司・前関白の兼平が摂政となった。
十二月、二条の右大臣・師忠が左大臣に転じ、九条の大納言・忠教が右大臣に任じられた。花山院の師継が内大臣を辞した。近衛の家基が内大臣に任じられた。（忠教は忠家の子、家基は基平の子。）
同月、北条時国が上洛して六波羅の南方の担当となった。（時房の曾孫である。）
今年、僧・一遍が初めて時宗を開いた。

(Abdications, imperial accessions, and the appointment of Crown Princes all came to be arranged by the Kantō [shogunate].)
In the second month of Kenji 1 (1275), the Mongol envoy Du Shìzhōng and others crossed over to Japan. Koreans likewise accompanied them. They were examined at Dazaifu, and Du Shìzhōng and two others were sent on to Kamakura. They were not permitted to enter the capital (Kyoto). Although letters arrived, no reply was sent.
In the sixth month, Tadaie, the former Regent of the Kujō clan, passed away. He was forty-seven years of age. He was given the posthumous title Ichion'in.
In the eighth month, Michimasa, former Minister of the Right of the Kazanin clan, was appointed Grand Minister of State (Daijō-daijin).
In the tenth month, Ietsune of the Ichijō clan resigned as Regent and Left Minister of State. Kanehira, former Chancellor of the Takatsukasa clan, became Regent.
In the twelfth month, Morotada, Minister of the Right of the Nijō clan, was transferred to the position of Left Minister of State, and Tadanori, Major Counselor of the Kujō clan, was appointed Minister of the Right. Morotsugu of the Kazanin clan resigned as Inner Minister (Naidaijin). Iemoto of the Konoe clan was appointed Inner Minister. (Tadanori was the son of Tadaie; Iemoto was the son of Motohira.)
In the same month, Hōjō Tokikuni went up to the capital and assumed charge of the southern division of the Rokuhara [Tandai]. (He was the great-grandson of Tokifusa.)
This year, the monk Ippen founded the Jishū sect for the first time.
