（前頁より続く）法皇に謁見された。七月、源定実が太政大臣を辞した。九月、（北条）貞時が最勝園寺を建立して供養した。将軍・久明親王が参詣された。十一月、徳大寺の右府・公孝が太政大臣に任じられた。鷹司の内府・冬平が右府に遷り、一条の大納言・内実が内府に任じられた。
嘉元（かげん）元年（1303）十月、北条基時が京より鎌倉へ帰った。十一月、北条時範がその代として上洛した。今年、貞時の子・高時が誕生した。あるいは永仁元年（1293）に生まれたとも言われている。
（嘉元）二年（1304）三月、徳大寺の公孝が太政大臣を辞した。七月、後深草の法皇が富小路の御所にて崩御された。享年六十二。両六波羅の（北条）貞顕・時範が、士卒を率いて門前に来て、床几（しょうぎ）に腰掛けて候（こう）した。葬礼は伏見殿にて行われた。十二月、一条の内府・内実が薨去した。享年二十。

[Continued from the previous page] ...and had an audience with the Cloistered Emperor. In the seventh month, Minamoto no Sadazane resigned as Daijō Daijin (Grand Minister of State). In the ninth month, [Hōjō] Sadatoki built the Saishōon-ji temple and held a dedication ceremony. The Shōgun, Prince Hisaaki, paid a visit to the temple. In the eleventh month, Tokudaiji Kinryō, the Udaijin (Minister of the Right), was appointed Daijō Daijin. Kujō Fuyuhira, the Naidaijin (Minister of the Interior), was transferred to the position of Udaijin, and Ichijō Uchinori, the Dainagon (Major Counselor), was appointed Naidaijin.
In the tenth month of the first year of Kagen (1303), Hōjō Motoki returned from Kyoto to Kamakura. In the eleventh month, Hōjō Tokinori came up to the capital as his replacement. This year, Takatoki, the son of Sadatoki, was born — though some say he was born in the first year of Einin (1293).
In the third month of the second year [of Kagen] (1304), Tokudaiji Kinryō resigned as Daijō Daijin. In the seventh month, the Cloistered Emperor Go-Fukakusa passed away at the Tominokōji Palace at the age of sixty-two. The commanders of both Rokuhara posts, [Hōjō] Sadaaki and Tokinori, led their troops to the gate of the palace and stood guard, seated on their camp stools (shōgi). The funeral rites were held at the Fushimi Palace. In the twelfth month, Ichijō Uchinori, the Naidaijin, died at the age of twenty.
