[Continued from the previous page regarding the Cloistered Emperor Kameyama:] From the age of thirteen, he fathered children, and even after his abdication, he had numerous sons and daughters by various consorts year after year. He also secretly visited a half-sister of different maternal lineage, and a princess was born of this union. Even after taking holy orders (shukke), he was said to have had many children.
In the seventh month, Tokudaiji Kinori, the former Daijō-daijin (Grand Minister of State), passed away at the age of fifty-three.
In the twelfth month, Takatsukasa Fuyuhira, the Udaijin (Minister of the Right), was transferred to the post of Sadaijin (Minister of the Left); Konoe Iehira, the Naidaijin (Minister of the Interior), was elevated to Udaijin; and Ichijō Sanehie, the Dainagon (Major Counselor), was given the rank of Jun-daijin (Quasi-Minister) and was ultimately appointed Naidaijin. In the same month, Saionji Kinhira, the former Udaijin, was stripped of his holdings in Izu and Iyo Provinces as well as his post as head of the Bureau of the Left Stables (Samaryo), by imperial censure (chokkan) from the Retired Emperor Go-Uda. In truth, this was carried out at the instigation of the warrior government (buke).
In the second month of the first year of Tokuji (1306), Kinhira received an imperial pardon (chokumen) and returned to court service, with all his landholdings restored. This was because the warrior government had submitted a petition on his behalf.
In the sixth month, Ichijō Sanehie resigned from his post as Naidaijin.
In the twelfth month, Iézane was appointed Daijō-daijin (Grand Minister of State). The Dainagon of the Nijō family...
