北畠大納言・源親房は、南帝の補佐を務めた。洞院実世、四条隆資が諸事を執り奏した。親房は顕家の父である。博識で才学があり、多くの書物を著した。その子・顕信は奥州の国司に任じられ、次の子・顕能は伊勢の国司に任じられた。
（暦応）二年七月、脇屋義助は北国の兵を集め、越前黒丸の城を攻め落とした。城主・高経は加勢を請い、京都より大勢が出向したため、義助は敗れて美濃へ落ち延び、そこから吉野へ参った。義助に味方した北国の城々は、皆陥落した。畑時能という勇士がわずか二十七人で鷹巣の城に籠もっていたばかりで、長く持ちこたえていたが、これも時を経て討たれ、北国は平定された。
十二月、一条経通が左大臣を辞した。九条右府・道教がこれに代わった。鷹司内府・師平が右府に転じた。大納言・源具親が内（府に任じられた）。

Kitabatake Dainagon (Major Counselor) Minamoto no Chikafusa served as an advisor to the Southern Emperor. Tōin Saneharu and Shijō Takasuke handled and reported all matters to the throne. Chikafusa was the father of Akiie. He was widely learned and talented in scholarship, and authored many works. His son Akiuobu was appointed provincial governor (kokushi) of Ōshū, and his next son Akinori was appointed provincial governor of Ise.
In the seventh month of the second year (of Ryakuō/Engen), Wakiya Yoshisuke gathered troops from the northern provinces and captured Kuromaru Castle in Echizen. The castle's lord, Takatsune, requested reinforcements, and as a large force set out from Kyoto, Yoshisuke was defeated and fled to Mino Province, then made his way to Yoshino. The castles in the northern provinces that had sided with Yoshisuke all fell. Only the warrior Hata Tokiyoshi, with a mere twenty-seven men, held out at Takasu Castle. Though they endured for a long time, they too were eventually defeated as the months passed, and the northern provinces were pacified.
In the twelfth month, Ichijō Tsunemichi resigned from the position of Minister of the Left (Sadaijin). Kujō Udaijin (Minister of the Right) Michitaka replaced him. Takatsukasa Naifu (Minister of the Center) Morahira was transferred to the position of Udaijin. Dainagon Minamoto no Tomochika was appointed to Naifu (Minister of the Center)...
