武蔵野にて合戦があった。この戦いにおいて、石堂入道は密かに新田方と通じ、尊氏を討とうと謀った。その子の右馬助は同心しなかった。それゆえ石堂は恐れて新田方に加わった。義興・義治は鎌倉へ攻め入り、基氏を攻めたので、基氏は出奔した。その後、笛吹峠にて尊氏と義宗が合戦し、義宗は打ち負けて越後へ赴いた。尊氏がまた鎌倉を攻めたので、義興・義治は退いて河村の城に籠った。三月、義詮は勢を催して上洛し、八幡を攻めて度々合戦があった。五月、南方の官軍は敗れ、南帝は八幡を落ちて吉野へ帰った。

There was a battle at Musashino. During this battle, the lay monk Ishidō secretly communicated with the Nitta forces and plotted to strike down Takauji. His son, the Umanosuké, did not agree with this plan. Therefore, Ishidō, fearing the consequences, joined the Nitta side. Yoshioki and Yoshiharu attacked and entered Kamakura, pressing their assault against Motouji, who then fled the city. After this, Takauji and Yoshimune fought a battle at Usui Pass (Fuefuki Tōge), where Yoshimune was defeated and withdrew to Echigo Province. When Takauji then attacked Kamakura again, Yoshioki and Yoshiharu retreated and took refuge in the castle of Kawamura. In the third month, Yoshiakira mustered his forces and marched up to the capital, attacking Yawata in repeated battles.
