（源善成は順徳院の）子孫であり、博識の人物であった。『源氏物語』の注釈書『河海抄』は、この人の著作である。
（嘉慶）二年三月、摂政・兼嗣が薨去した。享年二十九歳。四月、二条良基が再び摂政となった。そもそも執柄（摂政・関白）の当職を務めること四度に及んだ。五月、義満が左大臣を辞した。徳大寺内府・実時が左大臣に任じられ、大納言・源具通が右大臣に任じられ、一条大納言・経嗣が内大臣に任じられた。経嗣は、二条良基の子であったが、故・一条前関白経通が養って家を継がせたのである。六月、摂政・良基が薨去した。享年六十九歳。後に福光園院と号した。その子・師嗣が再び関白に任じられた。今年、義満は紀州の浜に遊び、また富士山を見物した。

([Minamoto no Yoshinari was] a descendant of Retired Emperor Juntoku and a man of great erudition. The *Kakaishō*, a commentary on *The Tale of Genji*, was his work.
In the third month of the second year [of Kākyō, 1388], the Regent Kanetsugi passed away at the age of twenty-nine. In the fourth month, Nijō Yoshimoto became Regent once again — in total, he served in the office of Chief Minister (Regent or Kanpaku) on four separate occasions. In the fifth month, Yoshimitsu resigned from the position of Minister of the Left (Sadaijin). Tokudaiji Udaijin Sanetsugu was appointed Minister of the Left; Dainagon Minamoto no Tokomichi was appointed Minister of the Right (Udaijin); and Ichijō Dainagon Tsunetsugu was appointed Minister of the Center (Naidaijin). Tsunetsugu had originally been a son of Nijō Yoshimoto, but the late former Kanpaku Ichijō Tsunemichi had adopted him and made him heir to the Ichijō family. In the sixth month, the Regent Yoshimoto passed away at the age of sixty-nine. He was posthumously styled Fukōen-in. His son Morotsugu was again appointed Kanpaku. In this same year, Yoshimitsu traveled for pleasure to the shores of Kishū (Kii Province) and also went to view Mount Fuji.
