（憲実に心よからざる）輩は皆殺された。持氏については、上杉持朝・千葉介胤直・大石憲儀らをして警固させ、使者を京都へ遣わして、持氏の死罪を一等減じて宥めることを請うた。

All those who bore ill will toward Norizane were killed. As for Mochiuji, Uesugi Mochitomo, Chiba-no-suke Taneyoshi, Ōishi Noriyoshi, and others were assigned to guard him, and a messenger was dispatched to Kyoto to request that Mochiuji's death sentence be reduced by one degree of severity.
In the second month of the eleventh year (of Eikyō, 1439), a command came from Yoshinori to Norizane to the effect that the crime of Mochiuji's rebellion could not be pardoned. Accordingly, Uesugi Mochitomo and Chiba Taneyoshi advanced on Eianji, and Mochiuji committed suicide. He was forty-two years of age and was posthumously titled Chōshūin. His uncle Mitsusada likewise killed himself. All those in close attendance also died in battle. Yoshihisa committed suicide at Hōkokuji.
