（前頁より続く）涼軒をその副（補佐役）として、五山・十刹への出世（住職就任）に関する事務を取り次がせ、武家より公帖（辞令）を賜った。
（文安）四年（1447年）二月、義成を従五位上に叙し、侍従に任じた。四月、義成が犬追物を興行した。五月、富樫次郎がその叔父・安高と、加賀国の守護職をめぐって争った。管領・細川勝元は安高を助け、畠山徳本は次郎を助けた。そのため、（加賀国を）半国ずつ分けて領有させた。
六月、一条兼良が執柄（関白職）を望んで、義成の母・大方殿に訴えた。武家がこれを奏上したため、近衛房嗣は当職（関白）を停められ、兼良が関白となった。

(Continued from the previous page) Ryōken was appointed as his deputy, tasked with handling matters relating to appointments of head priests at the Gozan (Five Mountains) and the Jissetsu (Ten Temples), and public appointment documents (kujō) were granted by the warrior government (bakufu).
In the second month of the fourth year [of Bun'an, 1447], Yoshinari was promoted to Senior Fifth Rank, Upper Grade (Jushō-i no Jō) and appointed as Chamberlain (Jijū). In the fourth month, Yoshinari held a performance of inuōmono (mounted dog-chasing archery). In the fifth month, Togashi Jirō and his uncle Yasutaka disputed the position of military governor (shugo) of Kaga Province. The kanrei (Deputy Shogun) Hosokawa Katsumoto supported Yasutaka, while Hatakeyama Tokuhon supported Jirō. Consequently, the province was divided, with each party administering half.
In the sixth month, Ichijō Kaneyoshi, desiring the position of Regent (Shippei/Kanpaku), appealed to Yoshinari's mother, the Lady Ōkata. As the warrior government then submitted this to the court, Konoe Fusatsugu was relieved of his current post as Regent, and Kaneyoshi became Regent (Kanpaku).
In the eleventh month, Yoshinari performed his first archery ceremony (yumi-hajime). In the same month, retainers of the Hatakeyama clan defeated enemies in the southern part of Kii Province, slew their commander — a secularized prince formerly of Enman-in — and presented his head to the capital. In the same month, the title of Retired Emperor (Daijō Tennō) was conferred upon the monk-prince Dōkin of Fushimi Palace.
