（宝徳）三年（1451年）七月、琉球人が来た。八月、義成は書簡を大明（中国・明）へ遣わした。九月、管領・畠山徳本の家人が、侍所の京極持清の従者を殺した。持清は怒って畠山と戦おうとした。細川右馬頭・成賢がこれを制止して、畠山の配下の者を差し出し、持清をして（その者を）斬らせた。
享徳元年（1452年）十月、久我前内府・源清通が太政大臣に任じられた。三条実量が内府（内大臣）を辞した。一条大納言・教房が内府に任じられた。細川右京大夫・勝元が管領に再任された。
（享徳）二年（1453年）三月、義成は従一位に叙せられた。四月、一条兼良が関白を辞した。二条右府・持通が関白となった。六月、義成は名を義政と改めた。同月、兼良は准三宮・食邑・随身・兵仗等を（賜り、その礼遇は）忠仁公（藤原良房）の例のごとくであった。九月、久我相国・源清通が薨じた。享年六十一。十二月、将軍・義政は源氏長者となり、奨学・淳和両院の別当と（なった）。

In the seventh month of the third year [of Hōtoku, 1451], people from Ryūkyū arrived. In the eighth month, Yoshinari sent a letter to Great Ming (China). In the ninth month, a retainer of Kanrei Hatakeyama Tokuhon killed a follower of Kyōgoku Mochikiyo, the head of the Samurai-dokoro (Board of Retainers). Mochikiyo, enraged, sought to fight against Hatakeyama. Hosokawa Umanokami (Head of the Right Stables) Narikata intervened to restrain him, and caused Hatakeyama to hand over the perpetrator from his subordinates, allowing Mochikiyo to execute him.
In the tenth month of the first year of Kōtoku [1452], the former Naifu (Minister of the Center) Koga Minamoto no Kiyomichi was appointed Daijō-daijin (Chancellor). Sanjō Sanenaga resigned as Naifu. The Major Counselor of Ichijō, Norihusa, was appointed Naifu. Hosokawa Ukyō-no-daibu (Senior Assistant Minister of the Right Capital) Katsumoto was reappointed as Kanrei (Deputy Shogun).
In the third month of the second year [of Kōtoku, 1453], Yoshinari was granted the senior first rank (jūichii). In the fourth month, Ichijō Kaneyoshi resigned as Kampaku (Imperial Regent). Nijō Udaijin (Minister of the Right) Mochimichi became Kampaku. In the sixth month, Yoshinari changed his name to Yoshimasa. In the same month, Kaneyoshi was granted the status of Jun-sangu (Honorary status equivalent to the three empresses), food fief (shokuyu), personal bodyguards (zuijin), and armed escorts (hyōjō), in accordance with the precedent of Chūjin-kō (Fujiwara no Yoshifusa). In the ninth month, the Chancellor Koga Minamoto no Kiyomichi passed away, at the age of sixty-one. In the twelfth month, Shōgun Yoshimasa became the head of the Minamoto clan (Genji no Chōja) and (was appointed) the superintendent (bettō) of the Shōgaku-in and Junna-in academies.
