(Continuing from the previous page) [Yoshimasa] was on Katsumoto's side. Yoshimi, being on Sōzen's side, made it appear as though the brothers were contending with each other for the realm.
In the eleventh month, Hinō Katsumitsu resigned as Naifu (Minister of the Center/Interior). Takatsukasa Dainagon [Great Counselor] Masahira was appointed Naifu.
In the first month of the first year of Bunmei [1469], Yoshimasa's son Yoshihisa, at the age of five, received the obeisance of Katsumoto and the other daimyō. Ise no Kami Sadamune supported and maintained him [in this position]. The daimyō of Sōzen's faction paid their respects to Yoshimi.
In the fifth month, Taga Bungo no Kami Takatada mustered forces from Ōmi Province and marched on the capital to join Katsumoto, but upon hearing that Rokkaku Kameju had risen up in Ōmi, Takatada withdrew back to his encampment. Takatada was a member of the Kyōgoku clan and was a man of renown who had served as Shugo-dai (Deputy Military Governor) of Kyoto.
Furthermore, in Tsukushi (Kyushu), a man called O-Kagano-kami, the caretaker [rusui] of the Ōuchi clan, rebelled and rallied to Katsumoto's cause. Seizing upon this opening, Shōni Yoshiyori's son Noritada struck out from Tsushima and reclaimed his ancestral domain in Chikuzen Province. Kyushu too fell into great turmoil.
