十七年（文明十七年・1485）三月、鷹司関白政平が太政大臣に任じられた。徳大寺実淳が内大臣を辞した。中院大納言源通季が内大臣に任じられたが、三日を経て辞退した。花山院大納言政長が内大臣に任じられた。四月、政平が太政大臣を辞した。六月、義政が剃髪・出家し、喜山と号した。法名は道禎、後に道慶と改めた。八月、義尚が右大将を兼任した。今年、古河の成氏が和睦を請い、義政・義尚がこれを許容した。
十八年（文明十八年・1486）正月、義尚が馬寮の御監となった。七月、細川右京大夫政元が管領に任じられた。これは勝元の子である。同月、義尚が大将拝賀のため参内した。その儀式は先例を考慮して厳重に執り行われた。東山殿義政は桟敷を設けて見物した。十二月、花山院政長が内大臣を辞した。一条大納言冬良が内大臣に任じられた。冬良は兼良の二男である。

In the seventeenth year [of Bunmei, 1485], in the third month, Regent [Kanpaku] Takatsukasa Masahira was appointed Grand Minister of State [Daijō-daijin]. Tokudaiji Saneatsu resigned as Minister of the Center [Naidaijin]. Nakanoin Dainagon [Great Counselor] Minamoto no Michisue was appointed Minister of the Center, but resigned after three days. Kazanin Dainagon Masanaga was appointed Minister of the Center. In the fourth month, Masahira resigned as Grand Minister of State. In the sixth month, Yoshimasa shaved his head and entered Buddhist orders, taking the name Kizen [Kiyama]. His Buddhist name was Dōtei, which he later changed to Dōkei. In the eighth month, Yoshihisa concurrently assumed the post of Commander of the Right [U-daishō]. In the same year, Furukawa's Shigeuji requested a peace settlement, and Yoshimasa and Yoshihisa granted their approval.
In the eighteenth year [of Bunmei, 1486], in the first month, Yoshihisa became Director [Goken] of the Bureau of Horses [Maryō]. In the seventh month, Hosokawa Ukyō-no-daibu Masamoto was appointed Deputy [Kanrei]. He was the son of Katsumoto. In the same month, Yoshihisa presented himself at court [sankei] for the celebration of his appointment as Commander [hanga]. The ceremony was conducted with great solemnity, based on careful consideration of precedents. Higashiyama-dono Yoshimasa set up a viewing stand [sajiki] to observe the proceedings. In the twelfth month, Kazanin Masanaga resigned as Minister of the Center. Ichijō Dainagon Fuyuyoshi was appointed Minister of the Center. Fuyuyoshi was the second son of Kaneyoshi.
