In the same year [Bunmei 18, 1486], in the Kantō region, through the scheming of Yamanouchi Uesugi Akisada, Ōgigayatsu Uesugi Sadamasa killed his own chief retainer, Ōta Dōkan. From this point on, the Ōgigayatsu Uesugi clan declined, and Akisada came to wield great power throughout the Kantō. In the first year of Chōkyō [1487], in the second month, Takatsukasa Masahira resigned as Regent [Kanpaku]. Former Minister of the Center Kujō Masatada became Regent. In the eighth month, Ōinomikado Minister of the Right Nobukazu passed away. He was forty-six years old. Saionji Sanetō resigned as Minister of the Left. Former Minister of the Center Tokudaiji Saneatsu was appointed Minister of the Left, and former Minister of the Center Kazanin Masanaga was appointed Minister of the Right. In the ninth month, as Sasaki Rokkaku Takase refused to come up to the capital [to submit], Yoshihisa personally led his forces and marched toward Ōmi Province. In the tenth month, Takase fled and took refuge in the mountains of Kōka. Yoshihisa established his camp at the village of Magari. Even while in camp, he listened to lectures on the Classic of Filial Piety [Xiaojing] and the Zuo Zhuan, among other texts. In the same year, Ise Shinkurō Nagauji descended from Kyoto to Suruga Province and took up residence with the Imagawa clan. Nagauji is also referred to in some accounts as Ujishige.
