In the fifteenth year [of Eishō, 1518], third month, Kanesuke resigned as Kanpaku [Imperial Regent]. Nijō Naifu [Minister of the Center] Tadafusa became Kanpaku.
In the fourth month, Kanesuke resigned as Safu [Minister of the Left]. In the same month, a memorial service [kuyō] was held at the Konpon Chūdō [Central Hall] of Mount Hiei, and the Shōgun Minamoto no Yoshitane ascended the mountain. In the fifth month, the former Safu [Minister of the Left] of the Kazanin family, Masanaga, was appointed Daijō-daijin [Grand Minister of State]. Sanjō Ufu [Minister of the Right] Sanehika was appointed Safu [Minister of the Left]. The Kanpaku of the Nijō family, Tadafusa, was appointed Ufu [Minister of the Right] and placed above the Daijō-daijin in precedence. The Dainagon [Major Counselor] of the Ōinomikado family, Tsunenaga, was appointed Naifu [Minister of the Center].
In the eighth month, through the intercession [shissō] of Shōgun Minamoto no Yoshitane, the Dainagon of the Nakamikado family, Fujiwara no Muneaki, was granted the honorary rank of Jun-daijin [Quasi-Minister] and Junior First Rank. In the same month, Ōuchi Sakyō-no-daibu [Senior Steward of the Left Capital] Yoshioki, of Junior Third Rank, resigned from his position as Kanrei [Deputy Shōgun] of the warrior houses and returned to Suō Province. It is said that although Yoshioki had wielded military power in Kyoto for over ten years, because he had managed the affairs of both the court nobles and the warrior houses, his miscellaneous expenses were great, and his wealth and treasures had gradually diminished, which is why he returned home. At this time, the Imperial Court was in decline, the military commanders had weakened in power, and Kyoto lay in a state of ruin and desolation. Because of this, among the court nobles, those who had close ties with Yoshioki went one after another to Suō Province. Furthermore, court nobles who had connections to regional lords of various provinces——
