Yoshiharu was appointed Udaishō [Commander of the Right Imperial Guard]. Gifts of stipend (roku) were bestowed upon the imperial envoys, including Hirohashi Dainagon Kanehide and others. At this time, as Hosokawa Harumoto and the Miyoshi clan had deployed their forces to Settsu Province and Kyoto was in a state of unrest, the ceremony was conducted at Sakamoto.
In the second month of Tenbun 16 [1547], Ōuchi-no-suke Yoshitaka dispatched a tribute ship (jinkōsen) to Great Ming [China]. Since the time of Rokuon'in-dono [Ashikaga Yoshimitsu], it had been the established practice that the successive heads of the Ōuchi clan oversaw matters of intercourse with foreign countries, held custody of the tally seals (kangō), built ships in Suō Province, and dispatched envoy monks. In the same month, Imadegawa Kimihiko resigned as Minister of the Left (Sadaijin). Nijō Haruyoshi was transferred to Minister of the Left, Ichijō Kanetsuyu was appointed Minister of the Right (Udaijin), and Konoe Dainagon Harutsugu was appointed Naidaijin [Minister of the Interior].
