[Continued from previous page] —no Kami (formerly titled Danjō-no-chū) Nobuhide died. His son, Kazusa-no-suke Nobunaga, succeeded him. Nobunaga subdued the enemies throughout the province and in neighboring provinces, and his military prestige grew greatly.
In the second month of [Tenbun] nineteenth year [1550], Hosokawa Harumoto and Sasaki Sadayori constructed a castle on Mount Nyoigatake.
In the third month, Yoshiharu intended to move to the new castle, departed from Sakamoto, and temporarily lodged in the mountains of Anao. This was because his illness had grown more serious.
On the fourth day of the fifth month, the former Sei-i Taishōgun, Dainagon and concurrent U-daishō, Minamoto no Yoshiharu, passed away in the mountains of Anao in Ōmi Province. He was forty years of age. He was posthumously given the temple name Banshōin. He was posthumously awarded the rank of Sadaijin [Minister of the Left] and Junior First Rank. From the first year of Daiei to the present year, his rule had lasted thirty years. Yoshifuyu [Yoshiteru] moved and took up residence at Hōsenji Temple in Hieitsuji. Harumoto, Sadayori, and Yoshikata served as his guards.
In the eleventh month, Miyoshi Nagayoshi marched up to the capital from Settsu, set fire to Higashiyama, advanced to Ōtsu Matsumoto, and Harumoto's retainers fled in defeat.
In the third month of [Tenbun] twentieth year [1551], Miyoshi Nagayoshi issued directives regarding the collection of land taxes (jishi-sen) within the capital.
