これである。太子が摂政を務めること十九年にして、天皇に先立って薨去した。享年四十九歳。常に慈悲の心が深く、殺生を好まなかった。群臣を饗応する際にも、菜膳（精進料理）を用いた。専ら仏法を信じて、あるいは経を講釈し、あるいは経の注釈を作った。天王寺の外に、寺を造ること九箇所である。ある時太子が片岡を通りかかった際、飢えた者を見て、衣食を賜った。その飢えた者が歌を詠んで奉った。その後飢えた者は死んだ。太子はこれを葬った。この者はただの人ではないと思って、後日に墓を開いて見ると、衣服ばかりがあって、その屍はなかったという。後世にはこれを文殊菩薩の化現であると言った。禅家では、これを達磨であると言った。太子が薨去した後、馬子はなお政を執って、三宝を信じた。ある時僧の中に、斧を執って、その祖父を打つ者があった。これによって、馬子は奏聞し、百済の僧観勒を僧正として、僧中の事を

This is it. The Prince served as regent for nineteen years before dying before the Emperor. He was forty-nine years old. He always had a deep heart of compassion and did not favor killing living beings. Even when entertaining his ministers, he used vegetarian meals. He devoted himself entirely to Buddhism, sometimes lecturing on sutras and sometimes writing commentaries on sutras. Besides Tennoji Temple, he built temples in nine other locations. Once when the Prince was passing through Kataoka, he saw a starving person and bestowed clothing and food upon him. The starving person composed a poem and presented it to him. Later the starving person died. The Prince buried him. Thinking this person was no ordinary man, he later opened the grave to look, and found only clothing with no corpse. In later generations, this was said to be a manifestation of Manjusri Bodhisattva. In Zen tradition, this was said to be Bodhidharma. After the Prince's death, Umako still held political power and believed in the Three Treasures. At one time among the monks, there was one who took an axe and struck his grandfather. Because of this, Umako made a memorial to the throne and appointed the Baekje monk Gwalleuk as head monk to handle matters among the monks.
