白 雉（チ）二年。始テ繍仏（シウフツ）ヲ作ル。其 長（タケ）一丈六尺。其外千仏
像（ザウ）ヲ刻（キザ）ム。又内裏ヘ二千百余人ノ僧 尼（ニ）ヲ聚（アツ）メ。一切
経ヲ読（ヨマ）シメ。二千七百余ノ灯（トモシヒ）ヲ燃（トボ）ス
白雑四年ニ吉士長丹（キシノヲサニ）等（ラ）ヲ勅使（チヨクシ）トシテ。遣唐船（ケンタウシ）ヲ発（ハツ）
セラル。唐（タウ）ノ高宗（カウソウ）皇帝ニ見（マミ）へテ帰朝セリ。此￣ノ勅使ニ

或時新羅ノ使-者唐人ノ裝束（シヤウソク）ヲ著（キ）テ。筑紫（ツクシ）マデ来
リケルヲ聞（キコ）シメシテ。日本ノ風 俗（ゾク）ニ異（コト）ナリト怒（イカツ）テ。コレ
ヲ追帰（ヲヒカヘ）サル。巨勢￣ノ大臣コレヲ伐（ウタ）ント奏聞シケレドモ。

赦免を行った。
白雉二年、初めて刺繍の仏像を作った。その高さは一丈六尺であった。その他に千体の仏像を刻んだ。また内裏へ二千百余人の僧尼を集め、一切経を読誦させ、二千七百余りの灯火を燃やした。
白雉四年に吉士長丹らを勅使として、遣唐使を派遣された。唐の高宗皇帝に謁見して帰朝した。この勅使に従って、大和国多武峯の開山である定恵も、その他名のある僧も多く入唐した。定恵は鎌足の子である。この時代に新羅・高麗・百済は毎年貢物を奉った。その数が少なかったので、これを改めて責任を問うた。

A great amnesty was proclaimed.
In the second year of Hakuchi (651), an embroidered Buddhist image was made for the first time. Its height was one jō and six shaku. In addition, one thousand Buddha statues were carved. Moreover, over 2,100 monks and nuns were gathered in the imperial palace, made to recite the complete Buddhist scriptures, and over 2,700 lamps were lit.
In the fourth year of Hakuchi (653), Kishi no Osani and others were appointed as imperial envoys and a mission to Tang China was dispatched. They had an audience with Emperor Gaozong of Tang and returned to Japan. Following this imperial mission, Jōe, the founder of Tafunomine in Yamato Province, along with many other renowned monks, entered Tang China. Jōe was the son of Kamatari. During this period, Silla, Goguryeo, and Baekje presented tribute every year. Since the amounts were small, this was reformed and they were held accountable.
