一筆致啓上候貴様弥御堅固御勤被成候由珍重
奉存候然者当領岐志浦え漂着唐船之儀丹波守
様外記様へ相伺候処信牌不持渡船之儀候間其
津へ漕送候而茂御詮議難成候其上打払に付外記
様御在勤之御事候間何分にも外記様ゟ被仰付
に而可有之候由丹波守ゟ徳永弥次右衛門え被仰
聞外記様ゟ御右之通信牌不持渡引送之儀御奉
行様ゟ御差図無御座候者打払候様相心得可申旨
被仰聞由御座候右漂着之唐船漂流之悪船とは
違前々海上不順に候而無拠致漂着候船之躰に相見
尤不法之儀に無之候然処打払候而は若訳違之
儀も可有御座哉無心元候付為急以使者丹波守様
外記様え重畳相伺申事御座候各之趣得と御聞
置被成候ため高木善右衛門又々指越申候毎々乍御六

高木作右衛門方へ御家老中から以下の通り
一筆啓上いたします。貴様におかれましてはますます御堅固に御勤めになられているとのこと、珍重に存じます。さて、当領岐志浦へ漂着した唐船の件について丹波守様・外記様へ伺いましたところ、信牌を持たない渡来船の件ですので、その津へ漕ぎ送っても御詮議は困難です。その上打払いについては外記様が御在勤のことですので、何分にも外記様から仰せ付けられることになるであろう旨、丹波守から徳永弥次右衛門へ仰せ聞かされました。外記様からは右の通り信牌を持たない渡来船で引き送りの件について御奉行様から御指図がございませんので打払うよう心得申すべき旨を仰せ聞かされたとのことです。右の漂着唐船は漂流の悪船とは違い、従来海上が不順であったために止むを得ず漂着した船の体裁に見受けられ、もっとも不法の件はございません。しかしながら打払えば、もしや筋違いのこともございましょうかと心許なく存じ、急ぎのため使者をもって丹波守様・外記様へ重ねて伺い申すことがございます。各々の趣旨をよく御聞き置きになるため、高木善右衛門を再び指し越し申します。

「再び差し越し」と申すのは、別の御用で善右衛門を近頃作右衛門方へ遣わしたためです。
度々面倒ではございますが、同人から委細を御聞きになってお取り計らいください。右の趣旨は拙者共から申し進めるべき旨を黒田伊勢守も申しておりますのでこの通りです。恐惶謹言

From the senior retainers to Takagi Sakuemon's residence, as follows:
I respectfully write this letter. We are pleased to hear that you continue to perform your duties with steadfast dedication. Now, regarding the Chinese ship that drifted ashore at Kishiura in our domain, when we inquired with Lord Tamba-no-kami and Lord Gaiki, we learned that since this is a ship that arrived without holding proper credentials (shinpai), it would be difficult to conduct proper deliberations even if we were to escort it to that port. Moreover, since Lord Gaiki is in charge of expulsion matters, it would certainly be Lord Gaiki who would issue the orders. Lord Tamba-no-kami informed Tokunaga Yajiemon of this. Lord Gaiki stated that, as mentioned above, regarding this ship without proper credentials, if there are no instructions from the magistrate concerning its transfer, we should understand that it should be expelled. This drifted Chinese ship differs from malicious drifting vessels - it appears to be a ship that was compelled to drift ashore due to unfavorable sea conditions, as has happened before, and there are no illegal matters involved. However, we are concerned that expelling it might result in some procedural error. Therefore, we are urgently sending a messenger to make repeated inquiries with Lord Tamba-no-kami and Lord Gaiki. So that you may be well informed of each matter's details, we are once again dispatching Takagi Zenemon.
