This should be done. The Chinese ship that drifted to Karadomari-ura in Hizen-no-kami's domain the year before last also did not carry official documents and said they were unaware of such documents. However, since it was a ship bound for Nagasaki port, the magistrates ordered it to be escorted there, and following precedent, it was sent over and investigated at Nagasaki. This current Chinese ship also does not carry official documents and says they are unaware of such documents, so following the precedent of the year before last, we inquire about forwarding it. 1. Regarding this drifted ship, if there were matters to be reported from here to Edo, we would detain five or six Chinese hostages and then expel them according to orders from Edo. This was also conveyed as what was told to Tokunaga Yajiemon. From the past, regarding Chinese ships, we have always consulted with the Nagasaki magistrate and acted according to their instructions, never having consulted directly with Edo. Therefore, for this drifted Chinese ship as well, we should consult with the magistrate and act according to precedent following their instructions. This message was sent to Hizen-no-kami, who surely reported this to the duty officer. 1. This drifted Chinese ship, as previously reported, differs from bad drifting vessels and has nothing suspicious about it, appearing to be a ship that drifted ashore unavoidably as in previous cases. Particularly since it has been brought to anchor at Kishiura, if we were to expel it immediately, it would have difficulty departing and might instead be wrecked. Since there is nothing unlawful about it, if it is deemed unnecessary to bring it to that port, then this drifted
