Furthermore, regarding the matter of the Lord's formal report to Nagasaki, we humbly ask that you take the precedents of previous years into consideration and issue further instructions in due course. Accordingly, we have instructed that, following this precedent, a report be submitted based on what we have communicated from here. Respectfully submitted, Eighth month, twelfth day The Council of Chief Retainers To: Lord Kōri Heima To: Lord Ōoto Rokuzaemon The above is the reply received from Edo. The contents of this letter have been brought to the attention of the Young Lord. Item: Regarding the aforementioned drifted vessel and the inquiry made to Nagasaki — a formal report was drafted following established precedent, and on the twenty-sixth of last month it was submitted through the Resident Deputy to Lord Toda Yamashiro-no-kami, the Duty Councillor [御用番], and to Lord Inoue Kawachi-no-kami, and the notification has been duly completed. Lord Ishikawa Tosa-no-kami was also notified in accordance with the customary procedure. As for the matter of duties pertaining to Nagasaki, once the instructions from the Magistrates have been received, this will be reported in due course, and as has been done on previous occasions, a comprehensive summary letter will be sent. Item: Regarding the notifications to be made by Lord Nagakiyo to the respective parties — this has been coordinated with the Resident Deputy of Nogata and has been completed jointly. Respectfully submitted,
