現代語訳

法司以下は、平日はみな緑地に印花の布傘を用いている。今見ると、各人はみな花のあるものを用いている。雨傘は各一人。前踏鳴金一人。

　　座褥
一品は、紅褐の心、青褐の縁。紅氈を襯く。
二品は、青布の心、紅布の縁。紅氈を襯く。
三品は、青布の面。紅氈を襯く。
四品五品は、ともに藍布の面。白氈を襯く。
六品以下は、座褥を用いない。ただ氈条を用いるのみ。

　　氏族

首里の四大姓は、向・翁・毛・馬である。向氏は即ち国王尚姓の別族である。少し遠くなれば向と称して以ってこれを区別する。故に世々王家と婚姻を通じない。その本国の人で王家と婚姻する者は、ただ翁・毛・馬の三家のみ。世々王舅法司となる。今現に法司となっている者は三人。馬献図・翁自道・向聖■。国丈毛邦秀。《割書：今の王尚敬の外祖父の妃は則ち馬氏なり》世系はともに未だ詳らかでない。続考を俟って譜に列せん。

久米の三十六姓は、みな洪武・永楽両朝の賜った閩人である。万暦中に至って存する者は、ただ蔡・鄭・梁・金・林の五姓のみ。万暦三十五年に続けて賜った者は、阮・毛の両姓。各姓の子孫は、みなそれほど繁衍していない。その他は籍を寄せて家を起こしてから貴顕となった者が多くある。しかし賜姓の旧ではない。今九姓世譜中を閲するに、多くは国学で書を読んでいる。

Legal administrators and below use umbrellas made of green fabric with printed flowers on ordinary days. Now we see that each person uses ones with flowers. Rain umbrellas, one person each. One person for the front-stepping gong.

　　Sitting Mats
First rank: red-brown center, blue-brown border. Lined with red felt.
Second rank: blue cloth center, red cloth border. Lined with red felt.
Third rank: blue cloth surface. Lined with red felt.
Fourth and fifth ranks: both have indigo cloth surfaces. Lined with white felt.
Sixth rank and below: do not use sitting mats. Only use felt strips.

　　Family Clans

The four great surnames of Shuri are: Sho, O, Mo, and Ba. The Sho clan is a branch family of the royal Sho surname. When the relationship becomes distant, they are called Sho to distinguish them. Therefore, they do not intermarry with the royal family for generations. Among the native people who intermarry with the royal family, there are only the three families: O, Mo, and Ba. They serve as royal uncles and legal administrators for generations. Currently, there are three people serving as legal administrators: Ba Kenzu, O Jido, and Sho Sei[■]. Kokutake Mo Kunshu. 《Marginal note: The consort of the maternal grandfather of the current king Sho Kei was from the Ba clan.》 The genealogies are all not yet clear. We shall wait for further investigation to list them in the genealogy.

The thirty-six surnames of Kumemura were all Fujian people granted by the Hongwu and Yongle reigns. By the Wanli period, only five surnames remained: Sai, Tei, Ryo, Kin, and Rin. Those additionally granted in the thirty-fifth year of Wanli were two surnames: Gen and Mo. The descendants of each surname have not multiplied greatly. Many others who became prominent did so after registering and establishing their families, but they are not from the original granted surnames. Now reading through the genealogies of the nine surnames, many study books at the national academy.
