大般若守護十六善神
玄奘三蔵 唐の貞観年中、七歳にして天竺に渡り、十七年の間百三十七カ国を修行して東土に帰り、大般若経総じて六百五十七部の経巻を翻訳し給う。
常啼菩薩
深沙神 龍沙河の大蛇なり。三蔵七生の間、六度まで取り喰らうも、後に教化によって大般若の守護となる。
法涌菩薩
勇猛心地善神
多聞 陀羅尼集に云う、父は羅婆陀、又は婆難陀と云う。母の名は密闍盧、又は蘇富と云う。光明疏に云う、北に水埵王あり、名を毘沙門という。

Great Prajñā-Protecting Sixteen Good Deities
Xuanzang Sanzō (Tripitaka Master): During the Zhenguan era of Tang Dynasty, at age seven he crossed over to India (Tianzhu), practiced in 137 countries for seventeen years, returned to the Eastern Land, and translated a total of 657 volumes of sūtras including the Great Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra.
Sadāprarudita Bodhisattva
Jinsha-jin (Deep Sand Spirit): A great serpent of the Dragon Sand River. During Sanzang's seven lifetimes, it devoured him six times, but later through religious instruction became a protector of the Great Prajñāpāramitā.

Tamonten (Vaiśravaṇa): The Dhāraṇī Collection states that his father is Rāpata, also called Pānanda. His mother's name is Mijjharu, also called Sufu. The Light Commentary states that in the north there is a Water-Heap King named Vaiśravaṇa.
