【下段】
色界初禅天の主であり、また大千世界の主でもある。覚観（かくかん）があるゆえに、上を統べ、下に冠たる存在である。ゆえに「令主（りょうしゅ）」と号すと云う。婆沙論（びゃしゃろん）に云う、「初禅の広さは四天下のごとし。」と。

He is the lord of the First Dhyāna Heaven (初禅天) of the Form Realm (色界), and also the lord of the Great Trichiliocosm (大千世界). Because he possesses *vitarka* and *vicāra* (覚観 / initial and sustained thought), he stands above all and presides over all below. Therefore, he is given the title "Lord of Command" (令主). The Vibhāṣā Śāstra (婆沙論) states: "The expanse of the First Dhyāna Heaven is like that of the Four Continents."

The Śāstra on the Great Prajñāpāramitā (釈論 / Mahāprajñāpāramitā-upadeśa) states: "Maheśvara is called 'Daijizai' (大自在 / The Great Self-Existent One)." He is the lord of the Heaven at the Summit of the Form Realm (色頂天) and also the lord of the Three Realms (三界). Therefore, he is referred to as "Songoku" (尊極 / the Most Exalted).
