現代語訳
観音二十八部衆
大梵天王 色界初禅天の主であり、また大千世界の主である。覚観があることによって上を統べ下に冠たる故に、主と号する。毘曇沙論に「初禅の広さは四天下のようである」という。
摩醯首羅王 釈論に「摩醯首羅はここでは大自在と称する」とある。色界の頂天の主、三界の主であるが故に尊極という。
帝釈天王 了義灯に「帝釈のような名前を千眼とするが、千の眼があるわけではない。能く一時に千の法を見ることができるからである」という。
東方天 持国天のこと。乾闥婆と毘舎闍を領し、東洲の人を護る。
金色孔雀王
毘楼勒叉（南方天） 増長天のこと。鳩槃荼と薜茘多を領し、南洲の人を護る。

The Twenty-Eight Attendants of Avalokiteśvara
Great Brahmā Heaven King: He is the lord of the first dhyāna heaven in the form realm and also the lord of the great trichiliocosm. Because he possesses vitarka and vicāra (initial and sustained thought), he rules above and stands supreme below, hence he is called "lord." The Vibhāṣā-śāstra states: "The expanse of the first dhyāna is like that of the four continents."
Maheśvara King: The Śāstra Commentary states: "Maheśvara is here called 'Great Sovereign.'" He is the lord of the highest heaven in the form realm and lord of the three realms, hence called "supremely venerable."
Indra Heaven King: The Lamp of Understanding states: "A name like Indra's is called 'Thousand-Eyed,' but this does not mean he has a thousand eyes. It is because he can see a thousand dharmas at one time."
Eastern Direction Heaven: This refers to Dhṛtarāṣṭra. He commands the gandharvas and piśācas and protects the people of the eastern continent.
Golden Peacock King
Virūḍhaka (Southern Direction Heaven): This refers to Virūḍhaka. He commands the kumbhāṇḍas and pretas and protects the people of the southern continent.
