**恵比寿（えびす）**
伊弉諾尊（いざなぎのみこと）の第三の御子であり、天照太神（あまてらすおおかみ）の御弟にあらせられる。西の宮へ流されなさったゆえに、西宮大神宮として祭り奉る。

中国の散聖（さんせい）なり。弥勒の化身なり。みずからは知らず、常に一つの布袋（ふくろ）を持つゆえに、時の人は「布袋」と呼んだ。背後に目がある。

**船玉宮（ふなたまぐう）**
宋の太宗の時、漁を業とする人の女（むすめ）なり。雍熙（ようき）四年九月九日に昇天し、雲の中に声ありて「われはすなわち観音の化身なり。今昇化す。これよりあまねく海運を護せんと」。よって船玉宮と号すと。

He is the third child of Izanagi no Mikoto and the younger brother of Amaterasu Ōkami. Because he was cast adrift and washed ashore at Nishinomiya, he is enshrined and venerated as the Nishinomiya Daijingū.

He is a wandering sage (sansei) of China and an incarnation of Maitreya (the Future Buddha). He himself was unaware of this; as he always carried a single cloth bag (futon), the people of his time called him "Hotei" (Cloth Bag). He has eyes in the back of his head.

**Funatama-gū (The Shrine of the Ship Spirit)**
She was the daughter of a fisherman who lived during the reign of Emperor Taizong of Song. In the fourth year of Yongxi (雍熙, 987 CE), on the ninth day of the ninth month, she ascended to heaven. A voice was heard from within the clouds, saying: "I am none other than an incarnation of Kannon (Avalokiteśvara). I now ascend in transformation. Henceforth, I shall broadly protect maritime navigation." It is for this reason that she came to be called Funatama-gū.
