■Lower Grade, Inferior Birth
Those of the lower grade, inferior birth are those who have committed the five grave offenses. At the time of death, a good spiritual friend encourages them to recite the nembutsu, and with each recitation their sins of birth and death are extinguished. Immediately, a golden lotus flower appears before them like a solar disc, and they are straightaway able to attain birth in the Land of Ultimate Bliss.
