■日月燈明仏（にちがつとうみょうぶつ）
『法華経』第一巻に云う、「過去の無量無辺不可思議阿僧祇劫の昔のごとく、その時に仏あり、日月燈明仏と号す……乃至……世尊と」。

■二万燈明仏（にまんとうみょうぶつ）
『法華定珍』に云う、「二万の所表は万行と万善なり。また千如を十善に安けば万なり。これを権実に約して二万なり」と。

The first fascicle of the *Lotus Sūtra* states: "Just as in the immeasurable, boundless, inconceivable asamkhyeya kalpas of the past, at that time there was a Buddha called Candrasūryapradīpa Buddha... and so forth... the World-Honored One."

■The Twenty-Thousand Lamp-Light Buddhas (二万燈明仏)
The *Hokke Teichin* states: "What the twenty-thousand represents is the ten-thousand practices (万行) and the ten-thousand virtues (万善). Furthermore, if the 'Thousand Suchnesses' (千如) are applied to the Ten Good Precepts (十善), they become ten-thousand. Considered in terms of the provisional and the true (権実), this makes twenty-thousand."

(The thirty-thousand) represents the Three Truths (三諦) of Emptiness (空), Provisionality (仮), and the Middle Way (中). In the *Lotus Sūtra*, they are referred to as the "Twenty-Thousand Lamp-Light Buddhas."
