四月　梯沽（でいこ）が紅く咲く（割書：樹高は十余丈、花は木蓮のようで密生して咲く。石榴・葵・萱草・金銭花・杜若・鳳仙花もこの月に咲く）　鉄銭花が開く　甘露がバナナに現れる（割書：芭蕉はこの月に実を結び始め、甘露と呼ばれる）　山丹が炎のように咲く　サトウキビ畑が実る（割書：楊梅もこの月に熟する）　青瓜が出る　竹筍が林に伸びる　螳螂が生まれる（割書：蜻蛉もこの月に生まれる）　蝉が鳴く　烏が雛を養う　蚯蚓が出る　螻蛄が鳴く　鳥鳳がやって来る（割書：小鳥の名前。また古哈魯という鳥もこの月にやって来る）

Fourth Month: Deigo (coral tree) blooms red (marginal note: trees are over ten fathoms tall, flowers resemble magnolia and bloom in dense clusters. Pomegranate, hollyhock, daylily, coreopsis, iris, and balsam also bloom this month). Iron coin flowers bloom. Sweet dew appears on bananas (marginal note: banana plants begin to fruit this month, called sweet dew). Tiger lilies blaze like flames. Sugar cane fields ripen (marginal note: bayberries also ripen this month). Green melons appear. Bamboo shoots emerge in groves. Praying mantises are born (marginal note: dragonflies are also born this month). Cicadas chirp. Crows nurture their young. Earthworms emerge. Mole crickets chirp. Bird-phoenixes arrive (marginal note: name of a small bird. There is also a bird called ko-ha-ru that arrives this month).

Fifth Month: Thorny peonies bloom. Uyuna flowers bloom (marginal note: flowers are the same as autumn hollyhock, woody plants three to four fathoms tall). Moon orange flowers bloom (marginal note: color is white as snow, fragrance can be smelled ten li away). Summer chrysanthemums bloom (marginal note: jasmine, gardenia, and magnolia also bloom this month). Lotus flowers bloom. Amaranth puts forth ears. Peaches bear fruit (marginal note: pomegranates also fruit this month). Young greens grow. Cowpeas appear. Grass does not decay but becomes fireflies. Hurricane season brings fierce winds.

Sixth Month: Hibiscus burns the sky (marginal note: blooms from third month through winter, but this month is most abundant). Hanging orchids are fragrant (marginal note: Chinese orchids also flower this month). Balloon flowers bloom. Senna blooms. All rice is brought to threshing grounds. Green beans are harvested. Deer enter water and become fish (marginal note: sharks leap onto shore and transform into deer; deer, fearing heat, lick water with their tongues and also transform into sharks).

Seventh Month: Magnolias are fragrant again (marginal note: crabapples and hostas also bloom this month). Cotton is harvested. Longan fruits become round. Dark birds arrive (marginal note: swallows first arrive this month). Autumn cicadas chirp. Sword beans appear (marginal note: loofah gourds also appear this month). Wild chrysanthemums put forth ears (marginal note: like Chinese qing rang, growing abundantly throughout the fields). Hairy fish form formations in water (marginal note: for five days before and after the first day of this month, and five days before and after the first day of eighth month. Hairy fish form ranks and battle formations, but not in other months).

Eighth Month: Cotton roses bloom (marginal note: osmanthus also flowers this month). Yoshii birds arrive (marginal note: bird's name. There is also a bird called kon-satsu that arrives this month). Red adzuki beans are harvested.
