　而光沢一名常盤木樹直上長丈余四時不凋葉可
　染緑色開小黄花結実如橘可食又有一木土名[呀
　喇菩]葉皆似福木亦対節生白花似梅十一二月実
　俱号君子樹《割書：葉紋対縷如織中辺映日通明作金｜黄色旧伝闘鏤樹葉如橘当即此也》
　[鉄樹]即鳳尾蕉一名海㯶櫚身蕉葉葉勁挺対出䙰
　褷如鳳尾映日中心一線虚明無影四時不凋処処

　[烏木]葉如桂直上外与常木不異中心木質黒色然

　[油樹]葉似橘実如橘大不可食用以榨油又有[福満
　木]樹高数尺葉似木槿差小花如橘子纍纍紅色可

　名野麻姑当即青精也

現代語訳

そして光沢がある。一名常盤木。樹は直立して丈余に成長し、四季を通じて凋まない。葉は緑色に染めることができる。小さな黄花を開き、橘のような実を結び食べることができる。また一つの木があり、土名を【呀喇菩】という。葉は皆福木に似て、また対になって節に生じ、白花は梅に似る。十一・二月に実る。俱に君子樹と号する。《割注：葉紋は対になって縷のように織物の如く、中辺は日に映じて通明で金黄色を作す。旧伝の闘鏤樹は葉が橘のようだというが、当にこれであろう》

【鉄樹】即ち鳳尾蕉、一名海㯶櫚。身は蕉葉で、葉は勁く挺として対出し、褷として鳳尾のようで、日に映じ中心に一線虚明で影がない。四時凋まず至る所に植えられている。

【烏木】葉は桂のようで直立し、外は常木と異ならないが、中心の木質は黒色である。然しまた白理のものもある。また【紅木】もある。

【油樹】葉は橘に似て実は橘大だが食べられない。これを用いて油を榨る。また【福満木】があり、樹高は数尺、葉は木槿に似るが少し小さく、花は橘子のように纍纍として紅色で食べることができる。また樹があり葉は冬青に似て高さ丈余、花は棗子のように纍纍として生じ、中国の女貞子のようで甘酸っぱく食べることができ、また物を染めて青蓮色を作すことができる。名は山米、また野麻姑と名付け、当に青精であろう。

【古巴梯斯】樹高は二・三丈余、葉は柿葉のように大きく、花は五椏で八・九月に実は青果のようだが少し扁平で、味は香甘、閩中にもありて戊土と名付ける。

【右納】樹高は三・四丈余、葉は白桐に似て、夏季に花を開き中国の秋葵のようで黄弁檀心である。

and glossy. Also called tokiwa-gi (evergreen tree). The tree grows straight upward to over one jō in height and does not wither throughout the four seasons. The leaves can be used to dye green color. It blooms small yellow flowers and bears fruit like oranges that can be eaten. There is also another tree with the local name [arappo]. All its leaves resemble the garcinia tree, also growing in pairs at nodes, with white flowers resembling plum blossoms. It fruits in the eleventh and twelfth months. Both are called gentleman trees. 《Note: The leaf patterns are paired like threads in weaving, and the center edges become transparent golden-yellow when reflecting sunlight. The traditional dōrō tree is said to have leaves like oranges, which should be this one》

【Iron tree】This is the phoenix-tail cycad, also called sea palm. The trunk has cycad leaves, and the leaves are strong and upright, growing in pairs, feathery like a phoenix tail. When reflecting sunlight, there is a clear line in the center with no shadow. It does not wither in any season and is planted everywhere.

【Black wood】Leaves are like osmanthus, growing straight up. The exterior is no different from ordinary wood, but the heartwood is black. However, there are also those with white grain. There is also 【red wood】.

【Oil tree】Leaves resemble orange trees and fruit is orange-sized but inedible. It is used to press oil. There is also 【fukuman wood】. The tree is several shaku high, leaves resemble hibiscus but slightly smaller, flowers are clustered like small oranges, red in color and edible. There is also a tree with leaves resembling holly, over one jō tall, flowers clustered like jujube, growing like Chinese privet berries, sweet and sour, edible, and can also be used to dye things blue-lotus color. Named yammai, also called nomago, this should be the blue essence plant.

【Kubatēsu】Tree height is over two to three jō, leaves large like persimmon leaves, flowers have five branches, fruiting in the eighth and ninth months like green fruit but somewhat flattened, with fragrant sweet taste. Also found in Fujian, where it is called bodo.

【Una】Tree height is over three to four jō, leaves resemble white paulownia. In summer it blooms flowers like Chinese autumn mallow with yellow petals and sandalwood-colored center.
