　[名護蘭]葉短而厚与桂葉同大僅如指三四月開花

現代語訳

【名護蘭】葉は短く厚く、桂の葉と同じ大きさで、わずかに指のようである。三四月に花を開き、蘭と異なることはない。一箭に八九朶が攢開し、香りは清越で蘭に勝る。名護岳の巌石間に出て、水土を借りることなく、あるいは樹椏の上に寄生し、あるいは棕皮で包んで懸ける。また【風蘭】があり、葉は蘭より比較的長く、香りは山奈や茴香のようで、蔑竹を盆として風前に懸け挂ける。極めて蕃衍しやすく、俗に皆蘭を尚び、孔子花と号する。

【粟蘭】一名芷蘭。葉は鳳尾のようで花は珍珠蘭のようである。また【松蘭】【竹蘭】【棒蘭】《注：状は珊瑚樹のようで緑色、葉なく、花は椏間から出て蘭に似るがより小さい》がある。

【野牡丹】土名は𦬯花。葉は牡丹と異なることはなく、二三月に花開き、叢を作って纍纍として鈴鐸のようである。素弁紫暈で檀心、碗のように大きく極めて芳烈である。その葉を嚼んで口香とする。種は大平山に出る。また【野海棠】【仙人竿】【箒桃】【野蘭】《注：即ち中国の青蘘》がある。

【文萱花】一名歓冬花。花は萱花のようで特に小さく、葉には青白相間の紋がある。

【山蘓花】一名猿莚花。花も幹もなく、土から出て長さは尺に及ばない。葉は蕉のようで小さく堅く厚く、紋がある。

【雷山花】土名は吉茄。葉は鉄梗海棠のようで、花は牽牛花のようでやや小さく鴉翠色である。四五月に開き十一月まで子を結び、豆のようで苞は榴房のようである。子数十粒を蔵し、種とすることができる。

英語訳

【Nago Orchid】Leaves are short and thick, the same size as osmanthus leaves, barely like fingers. Blooms in the third and fourth months, no different from orchids. Eight to nine flowers cluster on one stem, with a clear and superior fragrance exceeding that of orchids. Grows among the rocky crags of Mount Nago without need for water or soil, sometimes parasitic on tree forks or wrapped in palm fiber and suspended. There is also 【Wind Orchid】with leaves relatively longer than orchids, fragrance like galangal and fennel, suspended in bamboo baskets in front of the wind. Extremely easy to propagate. The common people all esteem orchids and call them "Confucius flowers."

【Millet Orchid】Also called Zhi orchid. Leaves like phoenix tail, flowers like pearl orchid. There are also 【Pine Orchid】【Bamboo Orchid】【Stick Orchid】《Note: Shaped like coral tree, green colored without leaves, flowers emerge from branch joints resembling orchids but smaller》.

【Wild Peony】Local name is 𦬯 flower. Leaves are no different from peonies. Flowers bloom in the second and third months, forming clusters hanging like bells. White petals with purple tinge and sandalwood heart, large as bowls and extremely fragrant. The leaves are chewed as mouth freshener. The variety grows on Mount Daping. There are also 【Wild Begonia】【Immortal Rod】【Broom Peach】【Wild Orchid】《Note: That is, China's qingnang》.

【Patterned Daylily Flower】Also called Welcome Winter flower. Flowers like daylily but particularly small, leaves have blue and white alternating patterns.

【Mountain Su Flower】Also called Monkey Mat flower. Has neither flowers nor trunk, emerges from soil growing less than one chi tall. Leaves like banana but small, hard and thick with patterns.

【Thunder Mountain Flower】Local name is Lucky Eggplant. Leaves like iron-stem begonia, flowers like morning glory but somewhat smaller and crow-jade colored. Blooms from fourth and fifth months until eleventh month when it bears seeds like beans, pods like pomegranate chambers containing dozens of seeds that can be planted.
