背面倒首（ハイメントウシユ）の論
凡／正（セイ）産の胎は図（ツ）の如く面（ヲモテ）を母の背（セ）の裏（ウラ）に向て倒（サカシマ）に
居る其《振り仮名：胞衣｜ハウイ｜エナ 》は胎の《振り仮名：尻｜カウ｜シリ 》上を蓋（ヲホ）ふ左右の足膝（ソクシツ）は上て皆
張（ハリ）て傍（カタハラ）に出し両手は展（ノベ）て脇傍（ケウボフ）に依（ヨ）ると此一条
は古今／未発（ミハツ）の確論（カクロン）にして賀川氏の発明する所
なり然るに世俗（セゾク）頭（カシラ）を上にし足を地にするの人にし
てなんそ倒（サカサマ）に孕（ハラ）むの理（リ）あらんやと此事数百歳の

百人の孕婦を試（コヽロム）るに賀川氏の世を誣（シヒ）さるを覚ふ

又或人曰／孕婦（ヨウフ）の形（カタチ）たるや横骨（ワウコツ）より《振り仮名：鳩尾｜キウビ｜ムナサキ》に及ふまて
此を天／円（エン）に比す中に渾（コン）然たる胚（ハイ）胎を孕む而し
て陰戸（インコ）の外を天とし陽とし陰戸の内を地とし陰
とす然れは孕胎／頭（カシラ）を天明に向て足を地陰に着（ツ）
くこと是／正位（セイイ）ならすやと此理尤もあたれり又／俗（ゾク）の
言（コト）に胎子腹内に《振り仮名：転復｜テンフク｜コカヘリ》する説あり若し孕胎腹内
にて転復せは母の臓府（ゾウフ）傷（ヤフ）らさるへけんや妄言（バウゲン）
たること甚し予／按（アン）するに胎は卵（タマコ）の内に鳥の居るか

背面倒首（胎児が背中を母体の前面に向けて頭を下にしている状態）の論
一般的に正常分娩の胎児は図のように、顔を母の背中の内側に向けて逆さまに位置している。その胞衣（胎盤）は胎児の尻の上を覆っている。左右の足膝は上にあって皆張って横に出し、両手は伸ばして脇の傍に寄っている。この一条は古今未発見の確実な理論であって、賀川氏が発明したところである。
しかし世間の人々は「頭を上にし足を地にするのが人間なのに、なぜ逆さまに妊娠する理があろうか」と言う。この事は数百年の疑問の城であって、これより破り難いものはない。これによって私が数百人の妊婦を調べたところ、賀川氏が世を欺いていないことを理解した。

また、ある人が言うには、「妊婦の体型は横骨から鳩尾（みぞおち）に及ぶまでを天の円に例える。中に渾然たる胚胎を妊んでいる。そして陰戸の外を天とし陽とし、陰戸の内を地とし陰とする。そうであれば妊娠した胎児の頭を天明に向けて足を地陰に着けることが正位ではないか」と。この理屈はもっともである。
また俗説に胎児が腹内で転回するという説があるが、もし妊娠中の胎児が腹内で転回するならば、母の臓腑が傷つかないはずがあろうか。妄言であることがはなはだしい。私が考えるに、胎児は卵の内に鳥がいるように薄膜の内にいて、乳汁を飲むのでもなく、大小便を
