これによって（臍が）突出して縮まらないものである。児がもし頻繁に泣く時は、早く臍の帯を見るべきである。大体六七日で（臍帯が）落ちる。十四日を経ても落ちないものもある。また落ちた後、素人が多く臍に灸をする者があるが、これは非常によろしくない。小児は熱の苦痛に堪えられず、これによって天吊撮口等の病気を発症する。必ず慎むべきものである。児に初めて乳を飲ませるには、母の乳汁が出るのを目安とする。世の中には多く乳汁が出るのを待たずに乳母を雇う者があるため、胎毒が下り

にくいのである。まず甘草・黄連の二味に大黄を少し加えて用い、あるいは紫円一粒を隔日に用いて、大便が黒く粘ったものが下るのを目安とする。しかし、月が満ちずして生まれるか、もしくは月が満ちたといっても生まれつき薄弱な者は、早く乳を飲ませて調養するのもまたよい。その初生を入浴させるには、すべて手早くするべきである。長く入浴させてはならない。そしてその落ちた臍帯を焼いて児に飲ませ、胎毒を下す時は、その児の痘瘡は軽くなるという。
